Tinubu To APC Members: Deliver Three Million Votes For Buhari, Sanwo-Olu In Lagos

Published

on

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Monday called on party members to work hard to ensure victory for the party in 2019 general elections.

Tinubu made the call in Ikeja while addressing members at the party’s secretariat.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode, his Deputy, Dr Idiat Adebule, APC governorship candidate, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his running-mate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat attended the meeting.

Tinubu urged members to immediately begin to reach out to residents on the need to sustain the development strides in the state and at the federal level by voting for APC.

The APC chieftain condemning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) describes the 16 years of the adminstration as years of failures and monumental corruption, saying the opposition should never be allowed to return.

Tinubu further appealed to APC members to at least, deliver three million votes for Buhari, Sanwo-Olu and other APC candidates, to further the progress of the state and country.

”We must maintain a strong outing for APC; the party of progress, the party of development, the party of the economy in 2019.

”We must differentiate between a development economy from a container economy of the PDP.

”We must educate our people that, we will not accept or allow Nigeria to be corrupt again, never!

”We have seen the 16 years of their failures and empty promises. We should never allow a return to that era.

”There are six million solid votes in the state. I challenge all of you; your target must be 50 per cent of that votes, three million votes.

”Or the entire six million votes for APC, for Buhari, Osinbajo, for Sanwo-Olu,for senators and other candidates in the state,” he said.

Tinubu commended members for putting the differences of the primaries behind them, urging them to carry the spirit of unity into the elections.

The APC chieftain said the party had not officially inauguratef campaigns because it was awaiting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish final list of candidates.

According to Tinubu, as soon as the list is released, campaigns would begin in earnest.

Fubara Is APC Leader In Rivers, Wike Has Been Compensated —– Bwala

Published

on

Daniel Bwala, special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on policy communication, says his principal aligns with the position of Nentawe Yilwatda, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on the leadership hierarchy in Rivers state.

Bwala’s remarks come as the Rivers house of assembly continues impeachment proceedings against Siminalayi Fubara, amid a renewed war of words between the governor and Nyesom Wike, his predecessor.

On January 3, the APC chairman said Fubara, governor of Rivers, leads the party in the state.

Yilwatda said the APC accords governors the privilege of leading the party at the state level, while urging them to respect inclusion and avoid disenfranchising other party members.

Speaking on ‘Hard Copy’, a Channels Television programme, Bwala said the governor must be allowed to carry out his duties without undue interference.

The presidential aide added that Wike’s political standing in the state is limited to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“I agree with the point highlighted by the national chairman that in Rivers state, Governor Fubara is the leader of the APC. Wike is not a member of the APC, so he cannot speak for the party,” he said.

“He may be regarded as a leader within the PDP in Rivers state, having been a former governor, but the APC leader in the state is Governor Fubara.”

Bwala said Tinubu’s position is in tandem with the party’s internal rules and democratic principles.

“What the national chairman said is the position the president sticks to, because he respects party procedures. The president believes in the rule of law and due process, and the party will always respect that,” he said.

Bwala also addressed concerns over Wike’s influence within the federal government, noting that appointments do not supersede national interest.

“We’ve heard people complain that as a cabinet member, Wike enjoys certain benefits,” he said.

“Wike has been adequately compensated. The president believes in compensating people, but not at the expense of the interest of Nigeria. President Bola Tinubu gives latitude, but once you cross the line, you will know.”

He added that the cold war between Wike and Fubara is “being handled”.

“When you ask who is the leader of the party, the answer is the governor. The impeachment procedure must be consistent with the practice of law and constitutional requirements,” he added.

“The governor will deal with it. There are court orders stopping the impeachment, and the party is clear: nobody should stop Fubara from governing Rivers state.

“The president even respects the rights of states governed by the PDP. Even where the APC may want to challenge them, he believes that a governor, regardless of party, should be allowed to govern.”

Bwala concluded that the president’s stance reflects his commitment to democratic stability, constitutional order, and party discipline across the country.

Hon. Abdulganiu Vinod Obasa Empowers Agege Youths with Solar Energy Skills, Drives Grassroots Development

Published

on

The Chairman of Agege Local Government, Hon. Abdulganiu Vinod Obasa, has reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development with the commencement of a Solar Electrification Training and Renewable Energy Value Chain Development Programme in Agege.

The forward-looking programme started today and will run until Friday, targeting the empowerment of young people with practical, market-driven skills in renewable energy—an increasingly critical sector amid Nigeria’s power challenges and the global shift toward clean energy solutions.

The first batch of 25 participants is currently undergoing intensive training that blends classroom instruction with hands-on practical sessions. The curriculum covers solar power fundamentals, panel installation, basic system maintenance, safety procedures, and an introduction to the renewable energy value chain.

Facilitators are equipping participants with real-life, employable skills aimed at preparing them for self-employment, entrepreneurship, and job opportunities within the renewable energy ecosystem.

In a strong show of leadership involvement, Hon. Abdulganiu Vinod Obasa will personally present certificates to all participants at the end of the programme on Friday.

The certification not only validates the skills acquired by the trainees but also enhances their employability and credibility within the energy sector.

Community stakeholders have described the Chairman’s direct participation as motivating, noting that it reinforces the administration’s seriousness about human capital development at the grassroots.

To ensure continuity and broader impact, organisers confirmed that a second batch of trainees will commence from February 16 to February 20. This phased rollout underscores the local government’s long-term vision to build a pool of skilled youths capable of meeting local energy needs and contributing meaningfully to economic growth.

Residents and observers have commended the Agege Local Government Chairman for prioritising skills acquisition over short-term palliatives, describing the initiative as a sustainable solution to youth unemployment and economic vulnerability.

By investing in renewable energy training, the Obasa-led administration is positioning Agege youths to become solution providers capable of supporting households, small businesses, and institutions with clean and reliable power alternatives.

With the solar training programme now underway and more batches scheduled, Hon. Abdulganiu Vinod Obasa continues to demonstrate people-oriented leadership that translates policy into tangible benefits. The initiative stands as a testament to an administration focused on empowerment, innovation, and sustainable development laying a solid foundation for a more resilient and economically active Agege community.

As the first batch progresses toward certification and the second batch prepares to begin, the programme is already being hailed as a model for grassroots-driven development powered by vision, inclusion, and practical action.
