The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has named those he alleged the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is planning to set up. The former ruling party chairman disclosed the names while speaking during the inauguration of the Ekiti State Governorship campaign on Monday.

He said anybody holding dissenting views from that of the presidency have been marked either to be framed up for criminal offenses or for corruption. Secondus said: “A sitting Governor in Rivers state, Nyesom Wike had cried out recently that there is attempt to assassinate him but his case was treated with levity only for Nigerians to witness a high profiled failed assassination attempt in Ekiti last week at a rally.

“Despite their immunities, Governor Wike has had to seek court protection to halt search in his house.

“Governor Fayose has just alerted the nation of plans to frame him up in the APC rally shooting. Nigerians should watch and be ready for the sacrifice to save not just our democracy but the country. What is however certain is that victory is ours in the end because Nigeria cannot afford this APC journey any longer.

“PDP is also privy to a very strong rumour of a secret grand plan of the APC government where a special killer squad is being trained and armed to kill opponents and disperse rallies especially in the area where they expect PDP rallies to intimidate their own.

“The motive of all these deliberate Police state being established by the ruling party is obvious; to distract and disorganize the opponent to enable them hold on to power and establish one party state.

“Never, not even in the draconian days of the military rule was number three citizen of the country and an incumbent governor framed up for armed robbery. This government has become a frame up administration.

“Senator Rabiu Kwakwaso’s aide was locked for weeks where they were searching for things to frame him up.

“Senators Dino Melaye and Shehu Sani have all been framed up for being vocal against unjust system being perpetuated by this administration government.

“The deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu has had his guest house ransacked where they were looking for something to frame him up.

“We hear that they want to know where we are deriving our confidence and our response to them is that our power comes from God the giver and taker of all things and to the people of Nigeria who are distraught with the underwhelming level of governance in the country in the last three years”

APC Engaging Wike To Resolve Rivers Crisis, It Will Be Settled Amicably —– Ajibola Basiru

Published

on

The All Progressives Congress has confirmed that former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is being actively engaged in ongoing efforts to resolve the political crisis in Rivers State, despite not being a registered member of the ruling party.

APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, made this disclosure on Thursday during an interview on TVC’s ‘Beyond The Headlines’, noting Wike’s critical role in the state’s political landscape and his support for President Bola Tinubu.

“Of course, as you know, Wike is an avowed supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, even though not a member of the political party,” Basiru said.

“Rivers State is critical to the success of President Tinubu, and definitely, he will be engaged. He’s been engaged in an amicable resolution in the state as expected.”

Basiru stressed that the ongoing consultations were largely confidential, noting that “not every measure being taken will be made public through the media.”

He assured Nigerians that the Rivers State crisis would be settled amicably, without winners or losers, and promised that details of the resolution would be shared publicly in the coming days.

Addressing criticisms that the APC is predominantly an elite party attracting only governors and political heavyweights, Basiru emphasised the mass appeal of the party:

“The APC is a very serious political party. We are a mass-based organisation, and going by the figures from our mass e-registration system, we are confident that APC is a party to beat in all elections. We are loved by the Nigerian people, and they are trooping out to join the APC.”

“Our tradition is socio-democratic, pro-people, and we are working to strengthen our party. We are mobilising, conscientising, and showing Nigerians why the pan-Nigerian political party, the APC, is the party to be in. The masses of Nigerian people are joining our party in large numbers.”

The statement comes against the backdrop of a long-standing political rift between Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara over control of Rivers State politics.

Fubara officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC on December 9, 2025, a move interpreted as a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The defection followed earlier shifts by several prominent members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to the APC, ending Fubara’s long association with the PDP and positioning him as the ruling party’s central figure in the state.

After Fubara’s defection, Wike publicly criticized him for allegedly breaking prior agreements and questioned his chances of securing another term in office.

The FCT Minister further argued that Fubara does not enjoy genuine backing within the APC, suggesting he is being misadvised and faces slim prospects of winning the 2027 governorship race in the oil-producing state.

In an unexpected development, the majority of the Rivers State House of Assembly members—aligned with the APC, like the governor—commenced impeachment proceedings against Fubara on January 8, 2026.

Observers widely attributed the move to Wike’s influence in the state’s politics. The proceedings, however, remain stalled due to ongoing litigation.

Lagos Assembly Debunks Abuja House Rumour, Warns Against Election Season Propaganda

Published

on

The Lagos State House of Assembly has described as misleading and mischievous the widespread misinformation that it budgeted for the purchase of houses in Abuja for its members in the 2026 Appropriation Law.

This rebuttal is contained in a statement jointly signed by Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, Chairman, House Committee on Information, Strategy, and Security, and Hon. Sa’ad Olumoh, Chairman, House Committee on Economic Planning and Budget.

Describing the report as a deliberate and disturbing falsehood being peddled by patently ignorant people, the statement reads, “There is no provision whatsoever in the 2026 Budget for the purchase of houses in Abuja or anywhere else for members of the Lagos State House of Assembly. The report is a complete fabrication and a product of political mischief intended to misinform the public.
“The Lagos State House of Assembly does not operate in Abuja. Our constitutional responsibilities, constituencies, and legislative duties are entirely within Lagos State. It is, therefore, illogical, irrational, and irresponsible for anyone to suggest that legislators would appropriate public funds for personal housing outside their jurisdiction.”
The statement emphasized that the budget is already in the public domain and accessible for scrutiny by discerning Lagosians and Nigerians alike. It reiterated that the Lagos State Government operates a transparent budget that speaks to the needs of the people and the demands of a megalopolis.
“We view this rumour as part of a wider attempt at election-season propaganda, designed to erode public trust, sow discord, and malign democratic institutions.”

The chairmen further clarified that the 2026 capital expenditure of the House of Assembly is less than 0.04% of the total CAPEX of the state, which clearly demonstrates the culture of prudence, accountability, and fiscal responsibility that guides the legislature. However, they noted, “Historically, the House does not even access up to its approved budget in many fiscal years.”

They stressed that the Assembly remains fully committed to excellence, transparency, good governance, and the collective welfare of the people of Lagos State, in line with the objectives of the 2026 Budget of Shared Prosperity.
“We therefore challenge those behind this harebrained allegation to produce credible evidence or retract their statements forthwith. Failure to do so may attract appropriate legal actions.
“We urge Lagosians and the general public to disregard this baseless rumour and always verify information from official and credible sources.”

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress.

Yusuf defected to the ruling party on Monday at the Coronation Hall of the Kano Government House.

He was received into the party by former National Chairman of the APC and ex-Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje; the Deputy President of the Senate; the Senator representing Kano South, Senator Barau Jibrin; the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata; and other party leaders.

The governor said his return to the APC was anchored on the need to work more closely with the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

Recall that Yusuf, who was elected on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in 2023, reigned from the party alongside several members of the Kano State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives.
