Ademola Adeleke, Osun governor, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment towards the free and fair conduct of the August 2022 Osun gubernatorial election.

Speaking during a media chat after a private meeting with the president on Friday, Adeleke also commended him for signing the 2022 electoral act into law.

He said Buhari’s assent to the law paved way for his victory as the governor of the state.

Adeleke added that his visit to the state house would also afford him the opportunity to discuss other issues of federal assistance with Ibrahim Gambari, the chief of staff to the president.

On July 16, 2022, Adeleke, who contested the governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), defeated Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was seeking re-election.

He polled 403,371 votes to defeat Oyetola who polled 375,027 votes.

After the announcement of the election, Buhari in a congratulatory message to Adeleke said the result of the poll showed respect for the will of the electorate.

He said the success of the election was an exhibition of stakeholders’ commitment to reinforcing the country’s democratic processes.
