After intervening in the oil workers’ strike, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has restored TotalEnergies’ daily crude oil output.
TotalEnergies has a daily capacity of 275, 000 barrels of oil.
Olufemi Soneye, NNPC’s chief corporate communications officer, on Sunday, said, NNPC brokered a deal between TotalEnergies, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association, (PENGASSAN) and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).
Following NNPC’s intervention, Soneye said the unions have agreed to suspend ongoing industrial action.
Recall that, in September 2023, PENGASSAN and NUPENG had threatened to withdraw their services from Total, Chevron, in protest of the sale of Eni Nigeria’s stake in Nigeria Agip Oil Company to Oando Plc.
In a statement shared via NNPC’s X, formerly Twitter, handle, Soneye said a communiqué was issued “at the end of a marathon negotiation session chaired by Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, Executive Vice President, Upstream, NNPC Ltd., all parties committed to resolving all the issues within an agreed framework”.
“The communiqué was signed by TotalEnergies MD/CEO Matthieu Bouyer, PENGASSAN President, Comrade Festus Osifo, and NUPENG President, Comrade Williams Akporegha,” he said.
The meeting had in attendance; Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, NNPC Limited’s, executive vice president upstream and chief upstream investment officer; Bala Wunti, NNPC upstream investment management services; and Victor Bandele, deputy managing director, TotalEnergies.
