Ace comedian, Ali Baba has lend his voice on helping.
The comedian maintained that sometimes it is not wise for someone to help those that doesn’t need one’s help.
He however reacted to a picture on Instagram that says: “You don’t need a reason to help people.”
In response he captioned: “I see what is being inferred here, but I beg to disagree. You can not help someone who doesn’t need help. The #Nike #JustDoIt does not apply here. Let me borrow wisdom from MKO Abiola. When people have loads they need to put on their heads, they have to be seen attempting to put that thing on their head to get a passerby to help. If they are just standing by the load, people can not think they want to put it on their head. Jesus asked what do you want me to do for you? He further said, Ask and you shall be given. Aka, #LAHUN. Though its a different context, you have to buy a lottery ticket to win it. The context of the graphics in the picture, kind of alludes to the fact that you should just go ahead and help people. Agreed. But you must also know what you are helping out with. What help do they require. Because you could be helping someone who doesn’t need your assistance. You may find a lady attractive and make her your best friend. But Tactically failing to mention your intention. You will be a best man before you know it. There is a popular story that speaks of a man that went to borrow a royal robe to wear for a special occasion, when he got there, he met the family feasting. He was invited and he joined in. Then another man came. He too was invited, but he told the head of the home that what brought him was more important. The head of the family excused himself and had a private chat with him. It was after the man had collected the royal robe that he now joined the feast. It was at that point that the first person woke up to his need. In that light, is the benefactor supposed to know the needs of the person who needed help? Maybe the story of the Good Samaritan has messed up our rational processing of the need/help dynamics. So if You need help, I must have a reason to help. Could be because OGB others who you can help after you are helped, or because I was helped like you, or I see potentials in you, or someone referred you,… Wetin I know SEF? Shebi I be comedian?
He continued, “You can never help anyone without having a reason to do so. Go through the bible. Zaccheus climbed a tree. Moses was put in a basket. Lazarus’ family beg. The people in Canna didn’t keep quiet when wine finished. Some people came through the roof to get healing. Joseph asked not to be forgotten, the thief on the cross spoke up, Ruth did not stay home to mourn,… Because you ask doesn’t mean you MUST BE HELPED. If you are a junky… There must be a reason to dash you money because I don’t want to feed your addiction. Or laziness, if the person no wan work!..”
