Security Operatives Raid IPOB/ESN Hideouts In Imo, Destroy IED-Making Factory

A joint team of troops of 82 division of the Nigerian Army, police and operatives of other security agencies have destroyed a factory where suspected members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) produce bombs in Imo state.

ESN is the paramilitary organisation of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

In a statement on Thursday, the security forces destroyed the bomb factory and hideouts of the suspected ESN members during a raid at Umulolo in the Okigwe LGA of Imo state.

The troops also recovered rank badges of two policemen who were kidnapped along the Enugu-Port Harcourt road.

“Other items discovered include Biafran currencies, fake US Dollar bills, Biafran Liberation Army T-shirts, and other Biafran insignia,” the statement reads.

“Military kit bags, cables used for IED detonation and axes. Two suspects were arrested and also burnt policemen’s corpses were discovered for proper burial.”

In another incident, the troops foiled a kidnapping attempt by some suspected members of the IPOB/ESN in Owerri, the state’s capital.

According to the statement, the suspected kidnappers were forced to abandon their victim after a gun battle.

The troops recovered a deserted vehicle, an AK 47 rifle and magazine, a G-3 rifle with mounted magazines.
