Sanwo-Olu Approves EDUDRAMA For Lagos State Students

Published

Senior Secondary School students of Lagos State are set to immensely benefit from the newly approved initiative tagged EDUDRAMA by the State Government.

EDUDRAMA which is the brainchild of BACK2STAGE is an ingenious initiative that focuses on using the endearing and irresistible powers of Arts and Drama to simplify education, and create a positive platform of bonding for students and broaden their world outlook.

Speaking to newsmen, Mr. Deji Ibitayo, the Creative Lead of BACK2STAGE highlighted the importance and benefits of the initiative to the students and lauded the State Government for its approval, ‘we all know how rapidly the world is evolving and this applies to all facets of life including education, we must therefore strive to meet up with the evolving styles, approach, and techniques of teaching and learning. It is an arguable fact that students of this generation tend to learn faster by watching and seeing rather than the conventional reading and it is on this basis that this initiative is most fitting we want to use this medium to thank the State Government for seeing the values and importance of such an initiative at this time and period for the utmost benefits of its students.

While urging other State Governments to take a cue from Lagos State, Mr. Ibitayo said this edition of the project is dedicated to the theatrical production of the play ‘THE LION AND THE JEWEL’ as written by Prof. Wole Soyinka which is the approved literature text by WAEC and NECO for Senior Secondary School Students across Nigeria. It should be a no-brainer for all State Governments and in fact, the Federal Government to embrace this laudable initiative, it is a win-win situation for everybody, the students enjoy more success in their examinations, there will be a bit of ease for teachers and the governments will be happy with the productivity of its students.

When probed further on how the project would directly impact the students, he said. ‘Take for example the text we are trying to simplify for them now, a lot of them would have read the book literarily but still do not get a grasp and understanding of the text, and yet this is the same text that they will be writing their WAEC and NECO examinations on including JAMB. But you will agree with me that having the text simplified for them through drama would ease the difficulties of understanding and boost their performances in these examinations and that is the objective and aim of this project.

The EDUDRAMA 2022 project for Lagos State will come up in May 2022 and will engage over two thousand senior secondary school students of the State.

It was a seven-star performance for Chain Reactions Africa (CRA), one of Africa’s leading Public Relations and Integrated Communications Consultancy as it took home seven African SABRE trophies, more than any other public relations firm in Africa in the 2024 competition.

The awards which were held at the end of the annual African Public Relations Association (APRA) Conference, were presented by Provoke Media, organizers of the awards in Basam, Abidjan, Cote D’Ivore on May 16th 2024.

The work covered campaigns for the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), and its Lagos Blue Rail, 9mobile’s The Hack – Expand Your Hustle’, ‘Taming the Bull’ for the Presidency, ‘Next Era of Happiness’ for leading biscuit company, Pladis Foods Nigeria Limited.

Receiving the awards on behalf of Chain Reactions and its clients, was its Managing Director/Chief Strategist, Israel Opayemi, who noted that this is a seven-star performance by Chain Reactions Africa at the 2024 SABRE Awards.

In his comments Opayemi said “to emerge as the highest winner at the 2024 edition of the award with seven SABRE Awards is humbling as well as exciting for us at Chain Reactions Africa. We are immensely proud to be honoured on such a global platform like the SABRE awards which is the holy grail of Public Relations globally as the awards programme is dedicated to benchmarking the best PR works across the globe.”
