Rivers Assembly Begins Impeachment Process Against Fubara

The Rivers House of Assembly has begun impeachment proceedings against the state’s governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Members of the state house of assembly signed the impeachment notice against the governor on Monday.

During Monday’s session, 24 of the assembly’s 32 members were said to be present.

The assembly has directed that the governor be served with the impeachment notification.

Earlier in the session, the assembly deposed Ehie Edison as house leader.

A part of the Rivers House of Assembly was destroyed by fire on Sunday.

On Monday, supporters of the governor invaded the assembly building in protest of Fubara’s impeachment.
