President Bola Tinubu departed Abuja, the nation’s capital, for France on Monday, utilizing the newly acquired presidential jet.

According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to Tinubu on Information and Strategy, the new aircraft replaces the 19-year-old Boeing B737-700 purchased during former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s tenure.

Onanuga stated that the Airbus A330 will significantly reduce Nigeria’s expenditure on maintenance and fuel, amounting to millions of dollars annually, compared to the old aircraft.

This development follows the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence’s recommendation in June for the federal government to procure new aircraft for President Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima.
