The Lagos police command has apprehended Success Adeyemi, 18, for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl in the Isheri area of the state.
According to police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, the incident occurred on August 29.
The victim’s mother reported the crime after the child complained of pain in her private area, prompting investigation and Adeyemi’s arrest.
The case is currently under investigation.
The Lagos police command reassures its commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society and ensuring justice for victims of sexual abuse.
“The child’s mother said that her daughter complained to her when she wanted to urinate that her private part was paining her,” Hundeyin told NAN on Tuesday.
“She asked her what happened to her, and the girl told her that Adeyemi had carnal knowledge of her.
“The medical report paper was issued to the girl for proper medical treatment.”
Hundeyin said the suspect will be charged in court at the end of the ongoing investigation.
