The Peoples Democratic Party has said it can survive without former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

The party said this in reaction to the stance of Obasanjo not to return to the party despite the visit of the Chairman of its National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, to persuade him to do so.

Obasanjo, shortly before the 2015 election, tore his registration card of the PDP.

And after Makarfi’s visit on Tuesday, he told the press that he would not behave like a dog that returns to its vomit.

Reacting to the development, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said the party would survive without Obasanjo.

Adeyeye said: “He has said it before.

“We are not going to force him.

“No individual is bigger than the party.

“Obasanjo has the right to hold his opinion.

“But the PDP will not die, either he joins us or not.

“We respect his opinion.

“There’s nothing to say more than that.

“He is an individual and we respect him.”
