Some female stalwarts in Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday joined the growing list of protesters in support of Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s anointed candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, threatening to match at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja, on Friday, naked.

The protesters in large number, who took to major streets in Abeokuta, asked the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomole, to address their grievances immediately.

The National Working Committee (NWC) had recognized an oil magnate, Dapo Abiodun as the APC governorship candidate in Ogun State.

Led by the Chairman of Ilugun Local Council Development Authority, Mofoluke Soremekun and other women leaders in the three senatorial districts, the protesters insisted that they voted Akinlade as against Abiodun announced by the national leadership of the party.

The women drawn from across the 20 local government areas of the state had converged on the Oke-Mosan Governor’s office as early as 8 am from where they matched through the ever-busy IBB Boulevard to Kuto and stopped at the NUJ Secretariat, Iwe Iroyin, in a development which disrupted vehicular movements momentarily.

Soremekun, while addressing the leadership of the party said the women stood by the mandate given to Akinlade on the 2nd of October, 2018 and would not allow anybody to rob them of their mandate.

The State Women Leader of the party, Sade Giwa, while speaking said they were surprised at the turn of event on the outcome of the primary adding that it was Akinlade who won the primary.
