Obanikoro’s Son Takes APC Eti-Osa Rep Ticket As Elegushi’s Brother Withdraws

Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro, the son of Senator Musiliu Olatunde Obanikoro, former Minister of State for Defence, is the new All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Eti Osa Federal Constituency.
Ibrahim Obanikoro who is currently representing the Constituency in the Lower Chamber clinched the ticket after party leaders prevailed over the winner of the APC primary election for the Constituency, Oyekanmi Elegushi. Oyekanmi is the younger brother of the revered Lagos monarch, the Elegushi of Ikateland, His Royal Majesty Saheed Elegushi.
At the keenly contested primary election in the last week of May, the younger Elegushi defeated the younger Obanikoro winning 25 delegate votes to 23.
At the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) meeting which took place on Monday, 13 June 2022, the leaders of the party prevailed on the younger Elegushi to withdraw from the race for political balancing and allow the younger Obanikoro to serve his second term in office.
Ibrahim Obanikoro will go head to head against Bankole Wellington aka Banky W, of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the man he defeated in the last general elections in 2019.
