Nigerian Local Government Chairman Slumps, Dies Three Months After Assuming Office

Chairman of the Akwanga Local Government Council in Nasarawa State, Emmanuel Leweh, has died.

On Monday, January 10, 2022, the deceased met with his council members at the council Secretariat in Akwanga local government area of the state, according to a source who talked with Daily Trust.

Shortly after the meeting, the dead slumped at the council Secretariat in Akwanga, according to the source.

On Thursday, January 13, 2022, Leweh, who had just been in office for three months, was alleged to have died in a private hospital in Abuja.
Mr. Samuel Tsebe, a member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, verified the deceased.

His words: “I lost my elder brother (Hon Emmanuel Joseph Leweh, Executive Chairman of Akwanga LGA) to the cold hand of Death this evening after a brief illness.”
