The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) successfully repelled a terrorist attack on Department of State Services (DSS) facilities in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, the NAF deployed Tucano jets following intelligence on the planned ambush by suspected terrorists.
The airstrikes targeted the terrorists, resulting in significant casualties. Unfortunately, two DSS operatives lost their lives during the exchange of fire.
“The bodies of at least 28 bandits have been recovered, with many more scattered across the area,” the publication said.
“In addition to the human toll, several weapons and motorcycles used by the bandits have been recovered by security forces.
“Two DSS personnel paid the supreme price during a gun battle with the bandits.”
The NAF authorities have not issued any statement on the incident.
In May, Edward Gabkwet, the NAF spokesperson, said many terrorists were killed during airstrikes conducted in Allawa village, Shiroro LGA of Niger state.
