Lagos State University (LASU) has alerted its staff and student body to avoid unnecessary movement within the Iba community during the upcoming Oro festival rites scheduled for Monday, August 25, and Friday, August 29, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on both days.

In a formal notice signed by Deputy Registrar Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, LASU management said it received official communication from the palace of the Oniba of Iba—Oba Dr. Sulaimon Adeshina Raji-Ashade—and community elders about the nine-day traditional festival.

The university has directed that all academic, administrative, and personal activities be scheduled outside the specified time windows to ensure the safety and welfare of those residing in Iba and its environs. The notice urged strict compliance and law-abiding conduct throughout the festival.

LASU emphasized its commitment to the community’s wellbeing and noted that the palace is available to provide any further necessary information.
