Justice For Mohbad: Social Activist, Tenny Omoologo, Denies Collecting N1m From Mohbad’s Sister-In-Law, Karimot

Published

on

Turkey-based Nigerian activist and blogger, Beatrice Opeyemi a.k.a. Tenny Omo Ologo, has reacted to the ongoing controversy regarding her alleged involvement in plots to destabilize the struggle for justice for the late Nigerian singer, Mohbad Aloba. Tenny was alleged to have collected the sum of one million naira from Mohbad’s sister-in-law, Karimot Adebayo, for the purpose of suppressing the struggle, which she flatly denied. Tenny also spoke about her experience in the struggle and as an independent justice advocate.

Karimot and I

I had helped the sister of Mohbad’s wife, Karimot, in the past. She was against the people fighting for justice for Mohbad before. During that time, she was abusing Mohbad’s father and everybody that was in the struggle, but she later joined us. Sometime ago, when I was doing giveaways for my followers on my Facebook platform, there was a woman in America who came on my live programme to make a donation. My plan was to share N100,000 to my people. And this woman said she wanted to add N100,000 cash to support the giveaway. So she sent me the cash. Later, the list of the giveaway beneficiaries was increasing. When that woman saw that they were increasing in number, she said she wanted to add another N100,000. Not long after the woman made the second promise, Karimot called me and asked how much I was giving to the people. Initially, I wanted to ignore her because I knew how rude she had been to many people, even those who are much older in age. But the woman whom we all call ‘Mummy Light On’ appealed to me to give her audience. I then told Karimot that I was sharing N5,000 each to my followers. After that, she promised to add N100,000 and requested for my bank account details. I didn’t oblige her. But ‘Mummy Light On’ said she was going to give her my bank details. About five minutes after, she called while I was on the live programme and asked if I had received the payment alert, I said no. I was actually avoiding Karimot because I know the type of person she is; so ill-mannered. After I had shared money to about 80 people, I received the other woman’s second N100,000. I then called the woman to ask if the second money she sent was from Karimot but she said the N200,000 was her own money. The woman then said that Karimot reported to her that I was avoiding her. I then confessed to the woman that I actually didn’t want to have anything to do with her because of her attitude towards people especially the elderly. I said I suspected she might come for me too one day despite that I am older and had done some help for her in the past.

The money Karimot sent

On the 28th, I received a N100,000 credit alert without the name of the sender. So I called the woman to inquire about the money and she said it was from Karimot. To my shock, Karimot came online recently and said she gave me money and I didn’t show appreciation. She said because of my attitude, she has asked ‘Mummy Light On’ to return her money to her. The most annoying aspect of this issue is that people are now spreading the rumour that I took one million naira from Karimot to destabilize justice for the Mohbad struggle. I want the world to know that Karimot didn’t give me N1 million. She only sent N100,000, which even came late for the giveaway that I did. That is the main reason I had been avoiding Karimot. I didn’t collect N1 million from Karimot or any other person. The N100,000 she sent was not for me, it was sent to support my giveaway. But I have returned her N100,000 back to her with evidence.

My life as a justice advocate

I have been on the internet before the Yoruba Nation struggle. However, it is the Yoruba Nation saga that made me more popular. My experience taking part in the Yoruba Nation struggle was quite challenging. It was life-threatening. But I thank God I’m still alive. I joined the Yoruba Nation movement in 2020. I was approached by a group to join the struggle because they knew that I had been speaking about the Nigerian leadership situation on my own. They said they wanted me to join them and add my voice as a Yoruba to advocate for an independent Yoruba nation. I agreed with them because it was my passion to talk about Yoruba liberation and better life for all Nigerians. The challenge started when the EndSars protest came amid the campaign for Yoruba Nation. That protest was timely because it was actually about ending bad governance. So, it was a sort of liberation call. On my Facebook live programme, I was showing and analyzing the EndSars activities live. This didn’t go down well with some people who are pro-government. So, they would come on my show to attack, abuse and curse me.

Yoruba Nation Independence Declaration

When in 2022, they told me that they were going to declare Yoruba Nation with Dupe Onitiri and others, I saw it as a joke. On December 20, 2022, I was invited to a meeting. Some of them were already campaigning for Tinubu to be president. They called themselves ‘Asiwaju Bloggers’. I didn’t join the meeting in time. When I decided to join, I changed my profile picture and name and joined the zoom meeting. They never knew it was me. That was how I discovered that the zoom meeting was meant to drum up support for Tinubu. People at that meeting were topmost Yoruba Nation campaigners. At the meeting they decided to use their platforms to campaign for Tinubu and agreed that if Tinubu did not win the presidential election, they would return to the Yoruba Nation struggle. That experience gave me the opportunity to discover that the Yoruba Nation struggle was a scam, mere plot to enrich some people. It wasn’t a genuine liberation movement. They are using it for politics and to defraud people abroad. Most of the members who were poor became very rich overnight.

How to get justice for Mohbad

I am very disappointed. First of all, I would put the blame on the Lagos State government. When Mohbad was exhumed, the Lagos State government promised to investigate his death and ensure that justice was done. We wouldn’t be at this stage of stress and disappointment if the government had done the right thing on the boy’s death. As a Nigerian citizen I am deeply saddened and embarrassed that the Nigerian government does not act on matters that affect its citizens. Secondly, as a mother, I am disappointed in the parents of Mohbad and his entire family. We have not been able to get justice for Mohbad’s death because his father, mother, wife and other members of his family were selfish and greedy. I heard that some people have promised Mohbad’s mother a trip abroad and others have promised her cash. The father is already enjoying his life. Are you saying getting justice for Mohbad is possible with that kind of conduct from his parents? Yet their son is still in the morgue one year after. Mohbad’s parents must sit up as good parents to get justice for their son and also protect the rest of their children. Adura has started the same way Mohbad started with Naira Marley and Sam Larry team. Very soon, if they are not careful, some guys will also start beating Adura around like the other people did Mohbad. And I must warn Mohbad’s parents to be very careful. As a spiritual person, I see that those behind Mohbad’s death are still after their family.

Peter Obi Dumps Labour Party For ADC, Rallies Opposition For 2027

Former Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has formally defected to the African Democratic Congress.

Obi, who is also a former Governor of Anambra state, urged Nigerians and opposition forces to unite under a broad national coalition to “rescue Nigeria from poverty, disunity and democratic decline.”

Obi announced his defection at the Nike Lake Resort, Enugu, on Wednesday, where he delivered a New Year address, accusing the current political leadership of state capture, economic mismanagement, and systematic erosion of democratic values.

“This decision is guided solely by patriotism and national interest. I now respectfully call on my political associates, the Obidient Movement and opposition leaders across the country to join this broad national coalition under the African Democratic Congress. History will not forgive silence in moments of national peril,” he said.

Presenting his defection as part of a larger national mission, Obi said Nigeria had reached a critical turning point and could no longer afford politics of division.

“As the year 2025 ends today, we stand on the threshold of a new beginning. For Nigeria, moments of profound national challenge demand clarity of purpose and decisive action. That moment is now,” he said.

He described Nigeria as a nation in deep distress, citing widespread poverty, unemployment and insecurity, saying, “With over 130 million Nigerians living in multidimensional poverty and more than 80 million youths unemployed, our people are in persistent agony. This is not the destiny God bequeathed to over 220 million Nigerians.

“Nigeria is looted into poverty”

Obi rejected claims that Nigeria’s crisis was inevitable, arguing that leadership failure, not lack of resources, was responsible.

“As a nation, we are not poor; we are looted into poverty. Nigeria is not broken; Nigeria is severely betrayed. The average Nigerian is not lazy or incompetent, but the system is rigged to reward mediocrity and recycle failure,” he said.

He accused the political elite of deliberately exploiting ethnic and religious divisions to remain in power.

“Their expertise lies in creating more divisions to sustain themselves in office. With little or no interest in unity or inclusive development,” he said.

Obi issued a strong warning over the integrity of future elections, insisting that reforms of the electoral system were non-negotiable.

He cautioned against attempts to rig the 2027 general elections.

Drawing from his international engagements, Obi compared Nigeria’s trajectory with countries that have achieved rapid development through unity and effective leadership.

He also cited Indonesia as an example of how leadership choices matter. “Indonesia and Nigeria started with similar characteristics,” Obi noted, “but while Indonesia is now a trillion-dollar economy, Nigeria is grappling with de-industrialisation, corruption and deepening poverty.”

Obi criticised the Federal Government’s tax reforms, describing them as anti-people and economically counterproductive.

He described reports of a forged tax law as a dangerous precedent. “A tax regime founded on forgery cannot build trust, unity or prosperity,” Obi said.

Positioning his defection as a strategic move toward 2027, Obi said opposition unity was essential to defeating what he described as “a government that thrives on division and propaganda.”

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday ordered the remand of the Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing and determination of their bail application.

The trial judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, also ordered the remand of his co-defendants, his son, Abubakar Malami, and one of his wives, Bashir Asabe.

Justice Nwite made the order after taking arguments from the defence team led by Joseph Daudu (SAN) and the prosecution counsel Ekele Iheneacho (SAN).

Malami and his co-defendants are facing a 16-count money laundering charge preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The EFCC alleges that the defendants conspired at various times to conceal, retain and disguise the proceeds of unlawful activities running into several billions of naira.

According to the charge, the alleged offences span several years and include the use of companies and bank accounts to launder funds, the retention of cash as collateral for loans, and the acquisition of high-value properties in Abuja, Kano and other locations.

The commission further alleges that some of the offences were committed while Malami was serving as Attorney-General of the Federation, in breach of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2011, as amended, and the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022.
