Taraba Gov To Officially Join APC In January 2026 —- Party Chairman

Published

on

The Taraba State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Ibrahim Tukur, has confirmed that Governor Agbu Kefas will formally join the party in January 2026.

The governor had earlier postponed his planned defection from 19 November, citing the kidnapping of students in Kebbi State as the reason for the delay.

He said it would be insensitive to proceed with political activities while the nation grappled with another security crisis.

Speaking at a press conference in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, on Sunday, Tukur said the governor had already been admitted into the party at the ward level, but the official reception would no longer be held this month.

“December is already jam-packed with activities. We don’t want to drag people across the state when families are preparing for Christmas and the New Year,” he said.

Tukur added that Governor Kefas had met all membership requirements.

“The governor wrote to his ward executives, and they have duly received him. As far as party records are concerned, Governor Kefas is now a bona fide member of the APC,” he stated.

He also revealed that 15 members of the Taraba State House of Assembly, along with the entire state executive council, had joined the ruling party.

“What you are seeing is a natural realignment. Key stakeholders around the governor have joined him, and more are coming. There is absolutely no cause for alarm,” he said.

The chairman added that the party leadership had unanimously agreed that January would be more suitable for the event.

“We have met as a party and agreed that January is the best time. Once a specific date is agreed upon, we will communicate it to the public,” he added.

Ekiti Mini-truck Driver Borrows N3.5m To Support Tinubu, Other’s Campaign

Published

on

An indigene of Ado-Ekiti, Adeleye Adeniyi, who is a mini-truck driver has said he borrowed N3.5m to support the re-election bids of President Bola Tinubu, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and Ekiti State House of Assembly member Steve Fatoba.

This was disclosed by Adeniyi, popularly known as “Online Loan Man for BAO”, in an interview with journalists now circulating on Friday.

The truck driver displayed a Wema Bank cardboard cheque indicating N2m for Tinubu, N1m for Bamidele and N500,000 for Fatoba.

He said he was prepared to campaign for the three politicians ahead of the forthcoming elections, citing what he described as their performance in office.

“I am supporting Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his second-term ambition. I have borrowed money. I want to use this money to support him because he’s doing a very great job,” he said.

He also pledged to campaign for Tinubu, adding, “Like I said again, I am fully ready to go out to campaign for him. And I’m going to use this song to back him up. On your mandate, we shall stand.”

Adeniyi appealed to Nigerians to vote for Tinubu, Bamidele and Fatoba, saying he believed the President would deliver more benefits if re-elected.

“I will appeal to my fellow Nigerians that we should demonstrate love by giving him, by voting him for his second term in office, because we are still going to see much more, more than what we have received,” he said.

The driver also praised Bamidele and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for what he described as their contributions to healthcare, education, electricity and rural infrastructure in the state.

“Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, this man, I pray that we are still going to higher places. Most times, I look at the kind of projects that you always put on, you always supported. It always encouraged me that, no, indeed, this is a good leader,” he said.

Adeniyi previously attracted attention in February 2026 after reportedly borrowing money through the digital lending platform OPay to brand a vehicle in support of Oyebanji’s second-term bid.

The mini-truck driver, who operates around the BAO Timber Market along Ilawe Road in Ado-Ekiti, said at the time that his decision was motivated by his admiration for the governor’s administration.

He also praised Oyebanji and Tinubu over their policies on education, healthcare and citizens’ welfare, urging residents to support the governor’s re-election bid.

In the latest video, Adeniyi said he had again taken a loan to demonstrate his support for the politicians.

Umahi Clears Air On Reported Rift With Wike, Says They Need Each Other

Published

on

Minister of works, Dave Umahi, has denied reports of a conflict between him and Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Umahi, speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, described Wike as a progressive politician, adding that they are both members of the same political family.

The minister was responding to reports of divisions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and speculation about his relationship with Wike.

“We need Wike as Wike needs us. So, it’s one family,” he said.

Umahi said the differences between him and Wike had been exaggerated by their political opponents, insisting that his relationship with the FCT minister remains cordial.

He also said the focus should remain on national development rather than political differences among members of the same political family.

Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said in January that his rainbow coalition represents a shift from conventional party politics towards a collective political movement focused on advancing the interests of the state.

However, the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) said it would not endorse any alliance or political arrangements that could undermine President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid or the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections.

Fresh Crisis Hits Kaduna ADC Over Conflict Of Interest Among Supporters

Published

on

Kaduna State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have been hit with a fresh crisis after supporters of another aspirant, Hon. Idris Shuaibu Abubakar Mikati, rejected the Certificate of Return issued to former governorship candidate Hon. Isa Ashiru.

The Mikati camp, comprising the Kaduna State ADC Youth Vanguard and support groups across the 23 local government areas, described the certificate issued to Ashiru on October 4, 2026, as illegal and procedurally flawed.

In a statement signed by Usman Sani on behalf of the coalition, the group alleged that the ADC national leadership issued the certificate despite a pending internal dispute and court case over the party’s May 2026 governorship primary in Kaduna State.

The development has reopened the controversy over the primary’s outcome, in which Ashiru was declared the winner with 86,113 votes.

The coalition said four aggrieved aspirants, including Mikati, subsequently challenged the result before the party’s Electoral Appeal Committee chaired by Dr Mustapha Fagge.

According to the group, the appeal committee reviewed the petitions and evidence presented to it and overturned Ashiru’s declaration, declaring Mikati the party’s authentic candidate.

Supporters alleged that the National Working Committee (NWC) had not yet formally considered and ratified the appeal committee’s report, despite being the party organ responsible for its day-to-day administration.

They further claimed that the NWC had not met for more than six months, alleging that it issued the certificate without resolving the conflicting positions arising from the primary and subsequent appeal.

“How can a party establish an internal dispute mechanism and then ignore its own verdict?” the coalition queried, describing the certificate’s issuance as “ultra vires and without due process.”

The group therefore rejected the certificate issued to Ashiru, insisting it was “null, void and of no effect” because, according to them, it lacked a ratified decision by the NWC or National Executive Committee (NEC).

The coalition also called on the ADC national leadership to reverse the decision, convene an emergency NWC meeting, and consider the Fagge-led Appeal Committee’s report.

It said Mikati had approached the Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja, to challenge the development, warning that any attempt to submit Ashiru’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) could face further legal challenge.
