A sense of fear and uncertainty has gripped the Ajiran community in Agungi, Lekki, Lagos State, after the gruesome murder of Demola Akinloye, the eldest son of Tijani Akinloye, the Ojomu of Ajiran land.
The shocking incident occurred on Monday near Ebano Supermarket along Chevron Drive, sending shockwaves through the community.
The tragic event has led to a mass exodus of residents, with many fleeing the area in fear of potential reprisals and escalating violence.
According to a source who wished to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of the situation, the community has become deserted as tension continues to rise.
A statement circulating among residents highlights the gravity of the situation: “This is to inform all residents that the son of the Ajiran (Agungi) king was assassinated this morning along Chevron Drive, close to Ebano Supermarket.”
The community remains on edge, awaiting developments and fearing further violence.
We therefore plead to our esteemed residents to avoid Chevron area, Agungi, and Ajiran for now for their safety.”
The sudden and violent nature of the murder has left the community in shock, with many fearing for their lives.
“People are scared,” said a resident who chose to remain anonymous. “The whole area feels like a ghost town now. No one knows what might happen next,” he added.
The Lagos State Police Command has yet to provide any details on the incident.
When contacted (by Nigerian Tribune), the Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that he was not yet aware of the situation but assured that he would provide an update once more information was available.
