A devastating accident occurred at the Oye-Agu Market in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, on Wednesday at approximately 11:10 am.
A speeding Toyota Sienna vehicle lost control of its brakes and veered into the market, crushing roadside traders and scattering goods. Witnesses described chaotic scenes with multiple injuries and fatalities.
According to Ben Okongwu, President-General of the Abagana Community, at least three people died, including a minor, and several others sustained injuries.
Rescue efforts are underway, with injured victims rushed to nearby hospitals.
However, Margaret Onabe, Spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra State, said she was unaware of the incident and would investigate further.
The accident has sparked widespread panic and disrupted market activities, with authorities working to confirm the exact casualty toll and circumstances surounding the crash.
