As part of the measures to end the ongoing strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU), the Federal Government has set up a tactical committee to review the 2009 Agreement reached between the government and the university-based staff unions.

The committee would be reviewing the recommendations of Prof. Nimi Briggs’ committee which had been reasons for the lecturers’ decision to embark on strike.

Also to be reviewed by the 14-man committee comprising pro-chancellors, vice-chancellors and other stakeholders was the federal government’s ‘no work, no pay’ stance against striking lecturers, which had become one of the major disagreements between ASUU and the central government.
