Sequel to the impeachment of the former deputy of Oyo state earlier today, the state’s House of Assembly has approved Barr. Adebayo Lawal as the new deputy governor of the state.

Governor Seyi Makinde had nominated Lawal as a replacement for the impeached Rauf Olaniyan and it was approved by the house.

Prior to his appointment, Lawal was the chairman of the State Water Corporation and was nominated as the running mate for Governor Seyi Makinde ahead of the 2023 elections.

The nomination was defended by Sanjo Adedoyin, the House majority leader, and seconded by Kazeem Olayanju, representative of Irepo Olorunsogo State Constituency, standing on the basis of Lawal’s contribution to the progress of the state in the past.

Lawal hails from Kisi in Irepo Local Government area of Oyo.
