The 2019 Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has left the party.

He promised to announce his new destination within the next two days.

Adelabu announced on Sunday after a meeting with some APC chieftains.

Adelabu was one of the aspirants who contested the APC governorship primary election on Friday won by Senator Teslim Folarin.

He alleged the APC has been hijacked in the State.

At the meeting were Senator Ayo Adeseun; former Oyo South senatorial aspirant, Dr. Olusola Ayandele; former APC Deputy State Chairman, Alhaji Isiaka Alimi; Chief Goke Oyetunji; Chief Kunle Sanda; former chairman, Atisbo Local Government, Mr. Jacob Ogunmola; former ALGON chairman, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye; and Alhaji Wasiu Ajimobi, a younger brother to immediate past Governor late Abiola Ajimobi.

Adelabu said that he was consulting with his followers across the 33 local government areas to know the best political party to realize his ambition in 2023.

A source close to him said the politician was weighing the option of joining the Social Democratic Party (SDP) or Accord

He said: “Since my followers have asked me to leave APC, we have left the APC.

“We will sit down with our leaders to decide on the political party to join. We will come back to APC after winning the gubernatorial election because we are progressives.

“It worked during the time of late Abiola Ajimobi, he left AC and went to ANPP and later came back to ACN.

“Just give us 48 hours to get back to you to announce the next political party to join.”
