The police command in Ondo has confirmed the arrest of three male secondary school students over the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl.

Funmilayo Odunlami, Ondo police spokesperson, on Tuesday, said the students are from Akure High School in the state.

The victim is said to be a junior student of the same school.

Odunlami said the suspects committed the crime at the bush close to the back of the school gate.

One of the suspects was said to have made love advances to the victim, which she rejected.

The case was reported in the police station after the victim came into the classroom with bloodstains on her uniform.

The three suspects are currently in the custody of the police.

The Ondo incident is the latest in reports on crimes involving secondary school students.

In March 2022, the Akwa Ibom government ordered the closure of a secondary school in the state after a stabbing incident.

Samuel Archibong, identified as a student of Community Secondary School in Aka Offot, Akwa Ibom, was alleged to have stabbed James Elijah, his colleague, to death.
