The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 10 cartons of tramadol 225mg with an estimated street value of N200 million in Lagos.

Mr. Femi Babafemi, the Director, Media, and Advocacy of the Agency, said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.

Babafemi said the consignment was packaged as “tramaking” containing 500,000 tablets with a total weight of 407kg.

He said the illicit drugs were seized during a joint examination with the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) at the NCS warehouse.

He also added that the consignment had arrived at Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) import shed since June 6 from India via Ethiopian Airlines.

He also added that it was eventually transferred to the NDLEA by Customs on June 15.

“The previous day, June 14, a similar joint examination with Customs at the Customs enforcement terminal, Tincan seaport, Lagos led to the seizure of 33 parcels of cannabis indica (Colorado) weighing 16.5kgs.

“The drug exhibit was recovered from a 40-foot container, TRHU 7874497 containing four vehicles.

“The cannabis coming from Montreal, Canada was discovered in three out of the four vehicles in the container,” he said.

Meanwhile, Babafemi said operatives of the NDLEA also foiled an attempt by drug traffickers to export parcels of methamphetamine, popularly called Mkpuru Mmiri.

He said the drugs, which were locally concealed in cornflakes packs and body cream containers, were to be exported to Malaysia and Australia respectively.

He said the drugs were seized at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Ikeja, and a courier company in Lagos respectively.

“As a result, two freight agents; Nneji Anoma and Etoh Barnabas, involved in the bid to export nine parcels of methamphetamine were arrested on June 15.

“The drug, which weighed 1.45kg, was hidden in packs of cornflakes to Malaysia through the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) export shed of the MMIA.

“Operatives of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation, (DOGI) at the agency attached to a courier company also intercepted a kilogram of methamphetamine concealed in body cream containers heading to Australia,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman, NDLEA, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa has commended the officers and men of the MMIA, DOGI, and Tincan for the arrests and seizures.

Osun 2026: Adeleke Resigns From PDP, Blames Party’s National Crisis

Published

Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, citing persistent leadership turmoil at the party’s national level.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page on Monday night, Adeleke confirmed that he submitted his resignation to party officials in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government, on November 4, 2025.

He stated, “Due to the ongoing crisis within the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (#OfficialPDPNig) at the national level, I officially conveyed my resignation letter as a member to the party leadership in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government on November 4, 2025.

“I thank the party and its many members and supporters for the opportunities they have provided me, first as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and now as Governor of Osun State.”

Earlier reports from the PDP state chapter indicated that Adeleke was unlikely to seek the party’s nomination for the 2026 governorship election unless the internal conflicts were resolved.

The leadership had expressed hope that a resolution, recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission, could persuade him otherwise.

Recall that we had previously reported that the PDP leadership in Osun State suggested Governor Adeleke might no longer be interested in seeking the party’s nomination for the 2026 governorship election.

However, the party stated that Adeleke’s decision could change if the crises affecting the party are resolved and recognised by INEC within the commission’s timeline for the Osun governorship poll.

Adeleke No Longer Interested In Osun PDP Governorship Ticket — Party

Published

on

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has said Governor Ademola Adeleke may no longer be interested in seeking the nomination of the party for the 2026 governorship election.

The party, however, said Adeleke’s decision may change with the resolution of crises ravaging the party, which must be recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission and reached within the commission’s timeline for the Osun governorship poll.

Addressing journalists in Osogbo, the state capital, on Monday, Osun PDP Chairman, Mr. Sunday Bisi, said the crises ravaging the party have made the conduct of the party’s governorship primary earlier slated for December 2 impossible.

Bisi affirmed that Adeleke fully complied with all requirements set out in the PDP’s timetable for nomination, adding that he
“purchased and submitted the expression of interest and nomination forms within the stipulated window of October 13th to 25th, 2025, being the deadline for submission.”

He further explained that Adeleke appeared before the duly constituted screening committee of the party on October 30, was screened, and cleared without reservations, with the Certificate of Clearance issued to him in accordance with the party’s procedures.

“However, soon after these pre-primary processes were concluded, the internal imbroglio rocking the national leadership of our party escalated.

“The suspension and counter-suspension of key national officers, officers who are statutorily central to the conduct of congresses, primaries, and the transmission of our candidate’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), created a level of uncertainty that directly impacted the planned schedule.

“This crisis reached a point where the statutory ad-hoc ward and local government congresses, scheduled for November 24th and 29th respectively, could not hold.

“These are the very congresses where delegates to the primaries are elected. As you are all aware, the issues leading to these disruptions are presently before various courts across the country,” Bisi said.

He added, “In the light of the foregoing, it has become inevitable, indeed unavoidable, that the PDP governorship primaries earlier slated for Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, can no longer hold as scheduled.

“However, because of the internal crisis rocking the national leadership of our party, the information at my disposal is that Governor Ademola Adeleke may no longer be interested in seeking the nomination of the PDP for the 2026 Osun Gubernatorial Election, except a resolution recognised by INEC is reached within the INEC timeline.”

It was earlier reported that the crises ravaging the PDP at the national level have polarised the party into factions.

According to the timetable released by INEC detailing activities towards the August 8 Osun governorship poll, parties fielding candidates have till December 15 to submit the names of their candidates.
