Operation Hadin Kai, 25 brigade troops, have reportedly killed four Islamic State in West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists, including Modu Tafjid, a bomb maker in Kumala village along Maiduguri-Damboa road, Borno state.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, said the ISWAP fighters ambushed the troops who alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force repelled the attack.

Report has it that the ISWAP fighters detonated an explosive on one of the patrol vehicles of the troops which were followed by gunshots.

A source reportedly said the troops engaged the ISWAP fighters in a heavy gun battle but defeated them.

“Modu Tafjid, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) specialist who led the attack and three others were killed in the aftermath of the fight while several other terrorists escaped with bullet wounds,” Makama quoted a source as saying.

The development comes days after many fighters of Boko Haram and ISWAP were killed in an airstrike by the Nigeria Air force in Bama LGA of Borno.
