The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 20-year-old housewife, Caroline Barka, for stabbing her 38-year-old husband to death.
The state police public relations officer, Suleiman Nguroje, who said the Police Commissioner, Sikiru Akande, has directed clinical investigations into the incident for proper prosecution, added that the suspect engaged her husband in a brawl, for keeping late nights which eventually led to his death.
He explained that the suspect who is a resident of Angwan Tamiya, Madagali Local Government Area of the state, got into a brawl with her husband, following his return from one of his late-night outings drunk.
The wife was said to have disagreed with her husband on the day of the incident for failing to perform his responsibilities to their one-year-old baby.
In the ensuing brawl, the suspect allegedly took their kitchen knife and used it to stab her husband, thereby resulting in his death.
She told authorities during investigations that she was angered by his drunkenness, habitual late nights, and failure to provide necessities expected of a husband.
The police revealed that the suspect currently in police custody at the Madagali Police Divisional headquarters stabbed her husband following a domestic dispute, thus resulting in his death.
The man was said to have become unconscious after bleeding profusely and was later pronounced dead at the hospital where he was rushed for medical attention.
It was gathered that the suspect had a child with the deceased after two years of marriage.
The police also noted that the suspect was apprehended following a report by the deceased’s relative at a police station in the Madagali LGA of the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Sikiru Akande, while commending the locals and police for exposing the incident and making it impossible for the criminal to escape justice, directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police Investigation to take over the case and ensure adequate prosecution of the suspect.
