Following a raid by bandits in Gindin Dutse Makyali village of Kufana district, Kajuru LGA of Kaduna state, eleven persons have died.
It was gathered that the locals were asleep when the intruders attacked in the wee hours of Sunday, destroying buildings and sometimes firing at people.
The Kaduna police command’s spokesperson, Mansir Hassan, confirmed the news to TheCable, stating that two individuals passed away at the hospital after the attack, and nine people died during the incident. Twelve residences were set on fire, he claimed.
The governor of Kaduna, Uba Sani, has denounced the attack and stated that the administration is collaborating with law enforcement and other important parties to lessen security threats throughout the state.
In a statement on Sunday, Samuel Aruwan, commissioner of internal security and home affairs, said the governor has directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to assist the victims.
“Governor Uba Sani received security reports on renewed bandits attacks resulting in loss of lives, kidnappings and destruction of properties in Kajuru and Igabi LGAs”, the statement reads.
“Governor Sani, who has been leading meetings with security forces, condemned the attacks in strong terms and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased.
“He also directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to, as a matter of urgency, assist the affected communities in Kajuru and Igabi LGAs following the razing of some of their houses and valuables.
“The governor further reiterated the government’s dedication and commitment in tackling the security challenges experienced across the state.”
There has been a rise in banditry in Kaduna, with many killings and kidnappings occurring in various parts of the state.
On Friday, some bandits invaded Kwassam community in Kauru LGA of the state, killing six people, while five others, including a retired director of the of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), were kidnapped.
