The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday, says he will challenge the victory of All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, the February 25th presidential election, for the sake of Nigeria’s future.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu won with 8,794,726 votes. According to the electoral body Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party came second with 6,984,520 votes. Peter Obi who was in the third position with 6,101,533 votes, had also claimed he was the winner and vowed to challenge the result in court.
But speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Atiku said the election that produced Tinubu as president-elect was a rape of democracy.
“The battle to fight the wrong of Saturday is not about me but about Nigeria’s future. The battle is to deepen democracy and the future of the youth,” Atiku.
