The Kogi State Police Command was left in a bit of a disarray after a vacuum was created during the handing over of duties. The state commissioner of police was unable to hand over to his replacement due to the latter’s absence.
The drama started on Thursday when the outgoing commissioner of police, Ali Jaga, arrived the venue for the hand over only to find out the incoming Commissioner of Police, Esa Sunday Ogbu, was not available for handover.
Ogbu is reported to have left the state after he was told to by the state governor and chief security officer (CSO) of the state, Yahaya Bello, according to reports.
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, had ordered the immediate removal of Jaga after the still unexplained escape of key suspects in a matter involving Senator Dino Melaye.
