How Dead, Sick People Were Accredited For South-West PDP Congress —– Fayose

Published

on

A former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, has alleged that dead and sick people were accredited during the South-West Peoples Democratic Party congress held in Osun State on Monday.

It was reported that Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, the candidate backed by the camp of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, got 343 votes to emerge as new South-West Zonal Vice Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party on Monday.

Dr Eddy Olafeso backed by the camp of Fayose got a total of 330 votes.

But Fayose insisted that the election was rigged while speaking on Channels TV Politics Today programme on Wednesday.

He explained that a former Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Mulikat Adeola-Akande, identified those that were dead and sick on the accreditation list.

He said, “The leader of the transport union in Oyo State came to the venue publicly looking for my head. It was public knowledge.

“We compelled them to announce publicly how many people were accredited. They resisted that and said they will announce state-by-state. The norm is for you to announce accreditation and tell us how many people came and how many votes are expected.

“By the accreditation, they initially said Oyo state had 115 people list, 104 accredited. Out of 104, 82 people voted. At the end of the exercise, the accreditation was 675, publicly announced.

“Ekiti voted first, followed by Ogun, Lagos, Osun then they purposely allowed Oyo to vote last.

“When you look at the alphabet, you will realise that a game was obviously going on.

“In Oyo, they told us 177 were listed. Hon Mulikat protested and said, ‘this man is dead, this man is dead, this man is dead, this man is sick, this one is abroad, this one is aged’. They came back and told us 165. This is the game going on in the entire process.”

When asked if he raised these objections, Fayose said, ‘Yes, they were raised.”

He, however, said his camp chose to overlook rigging because he was not ready to defect to another party.

“I have accepted this result not because they won but because I am one of the people that can’t defect to another party,” he added.

EFCC Arrests Archbishop Of Faith Healing Ministry After Church Members Sprayed Naira Notes On Cow During Service In Warri

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has taken into custody Angel Oyeghe, the self-acclaimed archbishop and founder of Faith Healing Ministry located in Warri, Delta state. According to the agency, her arrest followed the circulation of a widely shared video showing congregants engaging in actions that raised concerns about the misuse and abuse of the Nigerian currency during a church event.

In its statement released on Wednesday, the EFCC explained that Oyeghe was arrested on Tuesday after operatives reviewed the viral footage, which captured “several individuals under her supervision were seen spraying naira notes on a live cow during a church programme”. The commission said this public display prompted immediate investigative action given the nature of the violation observed in the material.

The EFCC added that Oyeghe will face charges in court, noting that the allegations against her include conspiracy, naira mutilation, and suspected money laundering. The agency emphasised that her arrest was coordinated by officers attached to its Benin zonal directorate, who had been monitoring reactions and intelligence linked to the viral video.

According to the commission, “the Commission is on the trail of arresting other suspects, as their action contravenes the provision of Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007”. Officials say more individuals identified in the footage will be apprehended to ensure that all parties involved are held accountable under the law.

The EFCC further stated that “Archbishop Oyeghe has made useful statements and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.” The agency said interrogations are ongoing and additional evidence is being compiled to support the prosecution process once the case is filed.

US Congressman Meets Ribadu-Led Delegation In Washington, Says Trump Doesn’t Make Idle Threats

Published

Riley Moore, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, met with a 10-person high-level Nigerian delegation in Washington, D.C., on November 19. The delegation was led by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and included key figures such as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bianca Ojukwu, Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, Attorney General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi, and Chief of Defence Staff Olufemi Oluyede.

Moore, known for his vocal stance on Christian persecution in Nigeria, hosted the meeting in which he described the engagement as “frank, honest, and productive.” According to him, the discussion centred on the ongoing persecution of Christians, terror threats in Nigeria, and potential areas for U.S.–Nigeria cooperation to curb violence.

During the meeting, Moore also reaffirmed that former President Donald Trump’s earlier warnings were not empty. He said Trump, who had previously threatened to enter Nigeria “guns-a-blazing,” “does not make idle threats.”

Moore added that Nigerian officials detailed to him the country’s security challenges, especially in relation to counterterrorism, protecting vulnerable communities and responding to widespread violence. He said the delegation expressed serious concern about religious persecution and expressed a desire for intensified collaboration with the United States.

He concluded by saying, “The United States stands ready to coordinate and cooperate with Nigeria,” adding that Trump had made it clear that his administration would “not tolerate continued violence against Christians or other forms of religious persecution.”

Despite these claims, the Nigerian government has consistently rejected allegations of targeted killings of Christians, describing them as politically motivated or exaggerated.

We Have A Fair Idea Of Abducted Schoolgirls’ Location — Kebbi Senator Garba

Published

on

Garba Maidoki, the senator representing Kebbi South, has expressed confidence that the schoolgirls abducted in the state will be rescued soon.

Speaking on Wednesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ programme, the senator said the abductors have not moved the girls out of Kebbi South. He stated that security agencies and local contacts have provided strong indications about the area where the students are being held.

Maidoki said, “We have a fair idea where the girls are, and we are sure they have not moved outside the Kebbi south senatorial district.” He added that there is “high hope” the girls will return home within “one or two days.”

The lawmaker described the incident as “the most unfortunate week” of his life, noting that insecurity, which once felt distant when the Chibok schoolgirls were abducted in 2014, had now struck very close to home. He said the abduction in Maga has brought the crisis directly “into the middle of my house.”

Maidoki explained that he visited the community after the attack to console affected families. He noted that residents had been assured that security would improve when he and his colleagues won their elections.

According to him, “Security was the number one item on the agenda for my election.” He stressed that efforts would continue in collaboration with the federal government and security agencies to ensure the safe return of the children.

He further stated, “This will not be like the Chibok girls. They will come back home.”

The abduction in Maga adds to a growing list of school kidnappings across Nigeria in recent years. In 2014, Boko Haram abducted 276 students from Government Girls’ Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, and more than 90 of those students remain missing eleven years later.

Gunmen attacked Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, on Monday, killing the vice principal who attempted to resist the attackers before several students were abducted.

The federal government has since directed security agencies to rescue the girls. In line with the directive, Vice President Kashim Shettima visited the community on Wednesday on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.

During the visit, Shettima emphasised the “administration’s priority” of returning the children safely. He stated that the federal government would deploy every available measure to secure their release.

Following the attack in Kebbi and another violent incident in Kwara State, President Tinubu has postponed his scheduled trips to South Africa and Angola for the G20 and AU-EU engagements.
