Three family members were reportedly abducted by gunmen on Sunday in Pegi, a town in the Kuje area council of the federal capital territory (FCT).
The victims — a mother and two daughters — were reportedly abducted when the gunmen invaded their home in the early hours of Sunday.
The attackers reportedly pulled down the barbed wire from the fence, broke the windows before gaining entry into the house.
The head of the family of the abducted persons identified as Gabriel Oladapo, a pastor, was reportedly out of Abuja when the attack happened.
Daniel Ndipaya, the spokesperson in FCT, confirmed the incident on Monday.
He said the command will ensure the release of the victims unhurt.
“Efforts are being made by the Command to ensure victims are rescued,” he said.
The kidnappers have reportedly demanded the sum of N50 million as ransom.
The abductors who contacted the family of the victims initially demanded N100 million but later reduced it to N50 million, Daily Trust newspaper quoted a source to have said.
The development comes weeks after one person was killed in a gun battle between the anti-kidnapping squad of the FCT command and some suspected kidnappers along the Kabi Mangoro axis.
