Graduates Of University Of Ibadan, Department Of Statistics To Hold First Home Coming/Reunion, Hall Of Fame Launch

The Department of Statistics, University of Ibadan graduates have announced activities to mark their first homecoming event and hall of fame launch from June 7 – 8, 2019 at the Department of Statistics complex.

The two-day program is themed “Homecoming event for Nation Builders and Celebration of Achievement”. The Head of Department, Dr. Angela Chukwu said the event aims to bring together all alumni of the department to work together with the department in supporting research, creativity and to create an endowment fund to assist exceptional but less privileged students of the department.

The event will start on 7th June, with breakfast and networking meet and greet. Afterwards, two alumni of the department – Prof. D.K. Shangodoyin, Professor of Statistics, University of Botswana and President African Statistical Association and Dr. Mohammed Tumala – Director of Statistics, Central Bank of Nigeria, will deliver keynote addresses.

The event features a panel discussion amongst alumni, which will have Prof (Mrs) Joy Nwabueze, Prof Ethelbert Nduka, Mrs Olubusola Oyebadejo and Mr Emmanuel John Udoh where they share expert opinion on the impact of statistics degrees on their various fields.

The second day (8th June) is a social event where we will be recognizing retired members of staff and congratulating the newest professors.

There will also be an official launch of the Hall of Fame and an inauguration of “U.I. Statistics Department Ambassadors (UISDA)” both of which will be conducted by the Head of Department.

The highlight of this home coming event is the dinner/fund raising at the International Conference Centre University of Ibadan. This event is a celebration of the many accomplishments of the Department of Statistics alumni, giving a chance to catch up on sweet memories with old classmates, lecturers and members of staff while enjoying a thrilling event in the ancient city of Ibadan.
