Below is how he narrated his story to PorscheClassy Media:

I am a student of university of lagos and I am presently writing my second semester examination. I finished my examination for the day and was heading for my classmate’s house in onike sabo at about 1:40pm when I was pulled over by two police men around Adeshina street in onike.

I stopped as I was requested to. They came down from their motorcycle and asked me where I was going and I explained myself to them, next thing I was asked for money for the weekend and I told them I didn’t have any money.

RRS

They then told me that they wanted to search my car, hoping that will scare me all because I didn’t oblige to give them money. I wasn’t asked for my license or car papers which I expected them to.

So I asked them for a means of identification as I figured the motorcycle did not have a plate number and I wanted to be sure if they were really police men. They said they wanted to enter the car with me. Not being able to identify themselves I refused.

They told me since I wasn’t willing to cooperate I would be delayed I still wasn’t told my offense, not giving money as they requested for or not opening the vehicle for unidentifiable policemen to come in.

After a while one of them told me to move ,I started the car and he used his gun to break my side mirror. I pulled over to challenge him, and he told me the money I refused to give them I should use it to fix my car mirror.

I brought out my phone took his picture and told him I would take it up. He told me he would use his gun and seize my phone for taking back at him. He dragged my phone and in the process my phone screen cracked.

I challenged him and was calling the attention of people around, They noticed people around started coming, and they quickly started their motorcycle and zoomed off leaving me with a broken side mirror and a cracked phone screen.

Refusing to identify their division or ID cards but fighting back to make sure They get pix I took deleted or take away my phone with the style of asking me to follow them to the station to get my mirror fixed. Meaning they where doing illegal work or acting on duty when not on duty, their actions was not like police men.

I want to bring to your attention, the publisher, this police man is not an RRS operative in all ramifications. Taking a look at how this man decked, RRS operative don’t dress in this way. I being in Lagos for 28 years, no operative from this revered police squad can behave in this silly manner. More importantly, RRS men are fully decked with all paraphernalia carrying RRS logo.I have not seen any officer from this squad who is on the field to wear blue uniform, and RRS helmet always engraved with their logo. This is a statement of fact, this man is not from RRS squad. I know them to be upright and doin men of police force.

tnx Tunde Mogaji for your illumination on this error. @ Femi Adeola, pls open your mind to the observations of others.

As Tunde pointed out, the officer in question is not RRS. He is a policeman but not RRS.

RRS Riders Have the following features:

    1. they use heavier white bikes
    2. Their bikes are white and branded with RRS logo and 3 digit numbers.
    3. they are always two officers on a bike
    4. They are always fully kitted with boots and complete helmets.
    5. their uniform is black and not blue.
    6. RRS bikes do not have 2 side bags unlike the one in question.
    7. In case any of them demands bribe pls send the 3 digit number (not 767 or 112 as in the case of vehicles) to 09053950347 or 08030472050.

pls you can help educate others

The code of dressing of RRS is quite different from any of the police officee in Nigeria as a whole by so doing we don’t need to disturb our self over this issue. The best scored among the police force is RRS either take it or live it. My able commander shouldn’t border himself over this issue. Eti ogede that does not deserve sharping of cutlass b4 cutting

Lagos State Government To Concession Red And Blue Line Rails For Sustainability, Loan Repayment

Published

on

The Lagos State Government has announced plans to concession the operations of the Red and Blue Line rail systems to the private sector in order to ensure their sustainability and repay loans taken for the rail projects.

This announcement was made by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, during a recent TVC News interview, where he discussed the measures being implemented to ensure the continued viability of the state’s rail systems.

Osiyemi explained that the concessioning process would involve transferring the operations of the rail systems to private sector players for a defined period. This approach is intended to ensure the continued operation and effective management of the rail projects.

“The ultimate game is for all our rail systems we’ve done—that is, the Red Line and Blue Line—there is going to be some concessionairing with the private sector for a period of time to ensure sustainability and continuity,” he stated.

He added, “The concessioning would help pay back the loans taken for the rail projects.”

The commissioner emphasized that the concessioning strategy aims to ensure efficient operations and long-term financial sustainability, in line with the state’s vision for a world-class transportation network.

  • More Insight

Osiyemi further highlighted the substantial financial and technical challenges involved in operating rail systems, describing them as capital-intensive projects that require significant resources and specialized expertise.

To tackle these challenges and build local capacity, he noted that the Lagos State Government has enlisted foreign partners to temporarily manage the operations of the trains.

These partners are expected to not only ensure smooth operations during their tenure but also transfer critical skills to Nigerian personnel. The plan includes a structured training program lasting one to two years, after which the management of the rail systems will be fully handed over to local operators.

“What we have done is we have consulted foreign partners who, of course, would run these trains for a particular period of time and train our people—that is, transfer of skills.”

“They will train our people for one to two years, then hand over for our own management,” Osiyemi explained.

  • Things You Should Know

The Lagos State Government, under its Lagos Strategic Transport Master Plan, has set out an ambitious vision to develop a network of rail systems across the state.

Currently, only the first phases of the Red Line and Blue Line rail systems have been completed, with passenger services already in operation.

The Blue Line is a 27km electric rail line designed for sustainable operations. Its first phase, covering 13km from Lagos Marina to Mile 2, was completed in 2023 and began commercial operations in September, carrying over 2 million passengers to date.

The Red Line, spanning 37km from Agbado in Ogun State to Oyingbo in Lagos, operates on diesel. Its first phase, a 27km stretch, includes eight strategically located stations: Agbado, Iju, Agege, Ikeja, Oshodi, Mushin, Yaba, and Oyingbo.

The construction of the second phases of both the Red Line and Blue Line rail systems is being managed by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), which also oversees the operation of the trains.

Beyond the Red and Blue Lines, the state has plans for additional rail systems, including the 68km Green Line (Lekki Free Trade Zone to Marina), the 85.7km Purple Line (Redemption Camp to Ojo), the 48km Orange Line (Ikeja CBD to Agbowa), and the Yellow Line, all aimed at enhancing the state’s transportation network.
