At least eight members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) were on Friday abducted in Kaduna state.

The abductees were traveling on a bus for an Easter programme when they were ambushed and kidnapped around Kachai road by gunmen.

A Facebook user, Eje Kenny Faraday, posted a picture of the said bus with the caption, “all the passengers in this bus are just kidnapped along Kachia Road km 63 from Kaduna”.

The kidnappers have reportedly contacted the church, demanding N50 million ransom.

One Ifedun Richard tweeted that his father is among the missionaries kidnapped in Kaduna.

Mohammed Jalige, the spokesman of the state police command, could not be reached to comment on the incident as he did not answer calls placed to him. Though it has been reported that the police command said it is not aware of the abduction.

The incident comes about three weeks after 39 students were abducted from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Igabi LGA of Kaduna.

Their whereabouts is yet unknown.

Kidnapping incidents have been on the rise in the country. Niger, Kaduna, and Zamfara are some of the states which have recorded mass abductions recently.
