The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended four men for allegedly impersonating EFCC Chair, Ola Olukoyede.

According to EFCC Spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the suspects – Ojobo Joshua, Aliyu Hashim, Thomas Oduh, and Paul Ogiji – were arrested on Wednesday in Abuja’s Garki and Apo Legislative Quarters.

The suspects allegedly contacted Mohammed Bello-Koko, former Managing Director of the Nigeria Port Authority (NPA), claiming he was “indicted by the EFCC during a probe of his tenure.”

The EFCC stated:

“They alleged that Olukoyede was ready to give him a soft landing for $1 million or risk being arrested and prosecuted.”

Acting on intelligence, EFCC operatives posed as accomplices, leading to the successful arrest of the impersonators.

The suspects are currently in EFCC custody and will face charges in court once investigations are concluded.
