Scandal! Senator Dino Melaye Uncovers N12 Billion Alleged Fraud In Ministry Of Power

The Nigerian Senate is set to look into an alleged case of fraud in the federal ministry of works, power and housing.

The alleged fraud was brought to the attention of the upper chamber by Dino Melaye, an All Progressives Congress (APC) senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the upper chamber.

Citing order 42 of the Senate rules, Melaye brought said the alleged monumental fraud in the power sector started sometime last year.

Senator Melaye brought up the issue on the floor of the Nigerian Senate today, Thursday, November 2.

He referred to a project in the ministry of power called FAST POWER.

He said the Senate needs to ask questions about the project, adding that there’s no appropriation by the Senate for the project and the ministry has spent $35 million (about N12 billion) so far.

Responding, Senate President, Bukola Saraki says the order cited by Melaye would come as a motion on another legislative day.
