The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is currently conducting test runs for petrol production, with full operations expected to commence by mid-September.

This is according to the Reuters report.

However, IIR Energy, an oil industry monitor, noted that “it is possible that there could be further extensions” to this timeline.

Anthony Chiejina, Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, has not yet responded to inquiries about the report’s claims.

Previously, Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest person, announced that the refinery would begin producing petrol in June, stating that Nigeria would no longer need to import the product.

However, the commencement of petrol supply has been postponed several times, with the latest reports suggesting a potential delay beyond August.

Chiejina has denied further delays, stating that the refinery is on track to produce petrol as planned in August.

Additionally, the refinery has clarified that it has not fixed its petrol price at N600 per litre ahead of the product’s availability.
