Operatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have seized a shipment of cannabis candies that were imported from the United Kingdom and intended for sale at a Kiddies Mart located at 46, Ogunlana drive, Surulere, Lagos State.
The consignment of cannabis candies was intercepted at the import shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos State.
The shipment, which arrived as a consolidated cargo on Allied Airways, was confiscated on February 27, 2025.
Preliminary field tests and forensic analysis later confirmed that the candies were infused with a potent strain of cannabis.
As a result, Adedamola Taylor, the recipient of the shipment, was apprehended on March 4, following the earlier arrest of a freight agent.
In his statement, Taylor revealed that the consignment had been sent to him by his brother, Babatunde Alabi, who is based in the UK, for delivery to Musurat Lawal, the operator of the Kiddies shop owned by Alabi in the Surulere area of Lagos.
A follow-up operation at the store led to the arrest of Lawal.
