Renowned businessman and politician, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has passed away at the age of 82.
His son, Jide Iwuanyanwu, confirmed his death in a statement on Thursday, July 25, 2024. Chief Iwuanyanwu died after a brief illness.
As the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide and President of Owerri Peoples Assembly, Chief Iwuanyanwu was a prominent figure in Igbo leadership.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Iwuanyanwu, and numerous children and grandchildren.
The Iwuanyanwu family has announced that funeral arrangements will be made public after necessary consultations.
Born in September 1942 in Umuohii, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, Chief Iwuanyanwu served as the 11th President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, leaving behind a legacy as a dedicated leader and champion of Igbo interests.
His passing is a significant loss to the Igbo community and Nigeria as a whole, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and associates.
