Breaking: NOUN Graduates Now Cleared To Go For NYSC, Law School.

The Senate on Thursday concluded amendment of the National Open University of Nigeria Act.

The amendment will ‎enable students of the university to go for the compulsory one year National Youth Service Corps observed by graduates of the country’s universities and polytechnics.

The Senate resolution was as a result of clause by clause‎ consideration of the amendment of the NOUN Act by the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and Tetfund, chaired by Senator Jubril Barau.

Also, through the amendment, Law Students from the NOUN can now be admitted into the Nigerian Law School.

There had been agitations among the students for their inclusion in the NYSC and the one year Nigerian Law School program.

The National Council on Legal Education had stopped graduates of Law from the school from attending the Nigerian Law School until now, while they are also not entitled to serve.

A case, which is scheduled for hearing on Thursday (today) at the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State had been on in the last two years over the Law students issue.
