Yusuf Bichi, Director-General of the Department of State Security (DSS), is expected to submit his resignation to President Bola Tinubu on Monday, according to reports.
Following his return to the office this afternoon, Bichi informed his close aides of his decision to step down.
Sources suggest that President Tinubu may select a replacement from among the agency’s serving assistant directors.
Bichi’s tenure began on September 14, 2018, when he was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari, succeeding Matthew Seiyefa, who had served in an acting capacity.
This development comes on the heels of the resignation of Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), who vacated his position on Saturday.
