Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), had his trial halted on Tuesday after he objected to the Federal Government’s new allegations against him.
On Monday, the Federal Government filed new terrorist accusations in the Federal High Court against the jailed leader of the proscribed IPOB.
As a result, the seven counts of treasonable felony and terrorism filed against him were increased to 15.
Kanu, however, opposed the new allegations during his trial, which took place on Tuesday in front of a large security presence.
The court will reassemble on Wednesday, January 19, for him to enter his plea.
Earlier in the day, one of the IPOB Leader’s primary counsels, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, revealed that Mike Ozekhome (SAN), a human rights lawyer, will now lead the delegation of lawyers representing Kanu.
