Governor Soludo of Anambra state has threatened to seal shops that remain closed on Mondays in observance of the sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Soludo made the announcement during an inspection visit to the Main Market in Onitsha, expressing his disapproval of the numerous closed shops and plazas.

IPOB declared the sit-at-home order in 2021 to protest the arrest of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu. Despite the official suspension of the order, fear of violence has caused businesses to remain closed on Mondays.

Soludo warned that any trader or business that fails to open on Mondays would face penalties, including the sealing of shops for up to a month.

He emphasized that the continued closure would damage the local economy and urged traders to resume full commercial activities.
