Qatar-based television network, Al Jazeera on Wednesday corrected its earlier report by removing Nigeria from the list of countries that attended the ceremony marking the controversial opening of the United States embassy in Jerusalem.
A presidency source on Tuesday told journalists in Abuja that the federal government had written to Al Jazeera, demanding a retraction of its story that listed Nigeria as one of the countries represented at the event.
In an apparent corrigendum, the Qatari news broadcaster clarified on its website that, “Israel’s foreign ministry said all 86 countries with diplomatic missions in Israel were invited to the embassy opening, and 33 confirmed attendance. However, the Nigerian and Thai representatives did not attend.”
