Former Governor of Kaduna state Senator Ahmed Makarfi on Sunday joined the race to contest Nigeria’s presidency in 2019.
The immediate past chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) declared his intention for the nation’s highest office at a press briefing in Kaduna.
Makarfi said his decision followed ”wide consultations with party men and women as well as other major stakeholders.”
With this development, the former governor has joined ex-vice-president Atiku Abubakar, another former governor (Jigawa state) Sule Lamido, both members of PDP, and President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling APC as the front runners for the position.
