2019: APC Proposes Dates For General Election Primaries

The All Progressives Congress has proposed September 19, 2018, for the election of its presidential flag bearer in next year’s elections through either direct or indirect primaries.

This was disclosed by the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, in a letter dated August 17, 2018, to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Oshiomhole also said to be elected on September 19 are the party’s candidates for the House of Representatives election.

He said in the letter that the National Convention to elect the presidential candidate will be preceded on September 8 by nationwide congresses to elect delegates to the convention.

On September 20, party members will elect candidates for the senatorial election to be followed on September 24 by the nomination of governorship candidates and on September 29 by the nomination of candidates for the House of Assembly election.

All dates are subject to ratification by the National Executive Committee of the party.

Oshiomhole said: “This serves as a formal notification pursuant to the provisions of section 85 of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended. Kindly arrange for your officials to monitor the exercise accordingly.”
