2 Days After LGA Chairman Abduction, Gunmen Attack Supermarket In Nasarawa, Kill 4 Customers

Not less than four persons lost their lives when gunmen attacked a supermarket on Tuesday in Karu LGA of Nasarawa state.

Ramhan Nansel, police spokesperson in the state, confirmed the attack in an audio message on Wednesday.

The raid happened two days after Safiyanu Isa-Andaha, the chairman of Agwanga LGA in Nasarawa, was kidnapped by bandits.

Nansel said the super market was attacked by about four gunmen, adding that they shot sporadically and killed four customers in the process.

“I wish to confirm that on January 2, 2024, some hoodlums numbering four attacked the Wisdom supermarket at Adehi, Karu local government shooting sporadically,” he said.

“The armed men opened fire on customers. As a result, four persons were recovered and taken to the hospital where they were confirmed dead by the medical doctor.”

He said Umar Nadada, commissioner of police in Nasarawa, has ordered an investigation into the incident.

“Their corpses have been deposited at Maraba Medical Centre,” he said.

“The commissioner of police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has directed the deputy commissioner of police in charge of state criminal investigative department in Lafia to move to the scene and carry out a comprehensive investigation into the case.”

He added that the outcome of the investigation will be communicated.
