A 19-year-old, Afolayan Emmanuel, who allegedly attacked some members of the public with cutlass and knife with his gang, has appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Emmanuel, whose address is unknown, is facing a three-count charge bordering on assault and malicious damage.
The Prosecutor, Corporal Anthonia Osayande, told the court that the accused and his gang, still at large, had on April 29 attacked some people with cutlass, knife, planks and other dangerous weapons.
According to Osayande, the incident occurred at about 2pm when the accused and two others engaged their secondary school rival group in a fight at Orile-Iganmu.
She added: “Several properties were damaged during the clash and some of the students were seriously injured.”
The offences contravened Sections 51 and 166 (I), (d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
The accused pleaded guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Ekpaye Nwachukwu, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
Nwachukwu said the surety must be gainfully employed and should also produce evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned to June 14 for mention.
