As activities marking the 90th birthday anniversary of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Adetunji begins on Sunday, about 120 traditional rulers across the country have been invited to the occasion.
This was disclosed by the Chairman of the 90th birthday committee, Prof Taoheed Adedoja when speaking with newsmen at the Popoyemoja Palace of the monarch.
To make the birthday anniversary a memorable one, Oba Adetunji will be offering free medical services to patients suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes at 50 centres across the city.
Prof Adedoja who was flanked by other members of the committee who spoke one after the other about interesting events lined up for the programme.
Besides, the monarch has organized the free distribution of food to the needy at his palace.
Oba Adetunji also hinted through his Personal Assistant on Media and Public Affairs, Mr AdeolaOloko that some deserved Nigerians will be honoured with chieftaincy titles.
He clarified that the honorees were selected on the basis of their contributions in various ways to the development of the city and Nigeria as a whole and not on their financial status.
While calling on all Nigerians to support the monarch, Prof Adedoja said attaining the ripe age of 90 is a great privilege and honour from the Almighty God which is worth celebrating.
While there will be cultural displays by various groups, the monarch has contracted prominent musicians such as Yinka Ayefele.
